ACCREDITATION
(Governors State is committed to bringing the very best, high quality programs to its students. Therefore, it is the policy of the university to seek accreditation for every program that has a recognized professional accrediting body. Whenever an appropriate accrediting body does not exist for an area of study, the university will seek external program reviews by experts in that area of study to ensure the program meets the highest and most current standards.)
In 2001, Governors State University was fully reaccredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools for the maximum allowable period of ten years. GSU is also a member of the Illinois Council of Baccalaureate and Higher Degree Programs, and the programs below are accredited or, if so noted, in accreditation candidacy by their respective professional accrediting agencies. These credentials permit you, as a graduate, to sit for national, state, and other certification exams to provide for your professional advancement.
